The Floor evolves into a 'steppers night', African American partnered dance-evening held in cities, such as, Houston, Chicago, St. Louis, Kansas City, and Detroit. Black communities that have taken part in the Black Migration in the US of WWI.

The narratives of settlment and leaving in the U.S. Black Migration of WWI impacted directly on self-determination and community positioning - of the Black Power and Civil Rights movements. Participants enjoy traditional African-American food recipes, 2-Stepping, engage in story-sharing, and enjoy an AfroFuturist trans-media "steppers night".

 

THE FLOOR

The floor, inspired by myth-making, is a focus on 2-Step partner dancing, folk lore and personal story sharing, post WWI US Black Migration patterns, and home-cooked recipes. In a social process form of group call-and-response, The floor is about the creation of individual and community spaces, and Blackness as mode and means of radical investigation of site-making.
